The Sara Gigliotti DeBord Memorial Award

This award is passed down each year to a teammate with an exceptional performance at the Boston Marathon.

Sara Gigliotti DeBord joined the Impalas in 2000. Sara was an active member and racer, competing in numerous short and long USATF Pacific Association races, various marathons, and the Dipsea race 11 times. Sara served on the Impala Board and received the Stockton (now Founders’) Cup in 2004. She also had a fondness for the Boston Marathon--especially when it fell on her birthday. She was a scoring member of the only Impala team in our history to win the Boston Marathon Team Competition in 2005. On April 18, 2016, which was Sara’s 42nd birthday, despite being in the middle of chemotherapy, Sara successfully completed the Boston Marathon for the last time.
