Impala Stampede

The Impala Stampede (previously known as the Stow Lake Stampede) is a fun and exciting 5K/Kids’ Mile race* that the Impalas hold in Golden Gate Park every spring. While the race is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, it is also a PAUSATF** circuit event that draws some of the fastest runners in the Bay Area. Post-race festivities take place near the Conservatory of Flowers in Peacock Meadow. With the help of our generous sponsors and the tireless work of the Impala Racing Team, this is a race to look forward to! Please visit the Impala Racing Team Instagram page for updates. The next Impala Stampede will take place on June 1, 2024.

*USATF certified course (# CA18002TK) and a USATF sanctioned event

**$2,900 total prize money for Pacific Association members

2024 Race Information

The 5K is part of the Pacific Association-USA Track & Field (PA USAT&F) Road Short Course Grand Prix Series*. It is held in the beauty of San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on a flat and fast course. The event is open to the entire running community and will include an elite field, prize money, age group prizes, giveaways, and more. The Kid's Mile is for children ages 12 and under. With the help of our generous sponsors and the tireless work of the Impala Racing Team, this will be a race to remember! Please visit our Instagram pages for updates. #impalastampede

The race is open to runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, rain or shine. All 5K participants will receive a commemorative gift, however, PAUSATF membership is required for prize money payouts**. Be aware that headphone use during the race is not allowed for USATF athletes per competition rules. Officials will disqualify any USATF athletes wearing headphones from prizes or Grand Prix scoring. This rule does not apply to all other race participants but we do ask that everybody exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings if they choose to wear headphones during the race. Post-race festivities will also take place near the Conservatory of Flowers in Peacock Meadow, in Golden Gate Park.

The Impala Racing Team is excited to donate a portion of our race proceeds to Back on My Feet, which combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Its unique running-based model demonstrates that if you first restore confidence, strength and self-esteem, individuals are better equipped to tackle the road ahead. For more information, including how you can join a run, see www.backonmyfeet.org. Click here to donate to BoMF!

All entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and non-transferable.

Strollers MUST start at the back and be careful not to impede other participants.

Non-binary racers will be eligible for age group prizes. Given that USATF does not currently have a non-binary division, USATF members must register as a man or woman in accordance with their USATF registration status to be eligible for PAUSATF scoring and prize money. Registrants who decline to state their gender will be entered in the Participant division. They will be listed in the results with only their name and finishing time and will not be eligible for awards or prize money.
